The Fort Dodge girls swim team got another opportunity to compete in their home pool here Thursday night.

The Dodgers topped Algona and fell to Sioux City Metro in a triangular.

Securing individual golds for Fort Dodge were Hailey Vogel and Julia Eastman, as both also had individual silvers on the night.

Vogel, a senior, clocked a time of 25.38 to top Grace Aesoph from Sioux City Metro in the 50 freestyle. She was also second in the 100 freestyle in 55.88 and swam on both the runner-up 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.

Eastman, also a senior, won gold in the 100 butterfly, finishing in 1:00.21 to top Brigid McGowan from Metro by over six seconds. Like Vogel, she too swam on both relays and was second in the 100 backstroke.

“It was a great night of swimming,” FDSH head coach Ashley Beaumont said. “Hailey and Julia both had best times of the season and wins.

“Sioux City Metro is a very tough competitor so it was great to see them before our invite next week.”

Kylen Lubensky scored silver in both the 200 freestyle in 2:11.97 and the 500 freestyle n 5:54.68. Gracie Harvey was second in the 200 individual medley in 2:32.03 and Delaney O’Connor grabbed second in diving with a score of 161.20.

Harvey had the lone third place finish, taking bronze in the 100 breaststroke.

For Algona, Reese Taylor won diving with a score of 270.25 and Ella Welp was the runner-up in the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.59.

The Dodger junior varsity had a second place in the 100 freestyle from Madison Sullivan and a pair of third place finishes by Teagan Loots (100 backstroke) and Claire Thompson (100 breaststroke).

The Dodgers are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Ames.
