Gaels beat Cadets at the net
IOWA FALLS — The St. Edmond volleyball team went on the road and picked up a key North Central Conference victory here Thursday night over Iowa Falls-Alden.
Scores were 25-21, 25-11 and 25-20.
The win was the second straight for the Gaels over the Cadets in the series, as Iowa Falls-Alden had won 15 in a row since 2007.
“It feels great to get our first conference win of the season,” SEHS head coach Heather Seeden said. “The girls came determined to win in three and they did.”
“Ava Andrew and Sasha Hess both served very well, Ava Underberg and Faith Shirbroun pounded the ball throughout the night and Mariah Myers finished it off from the outside. Lauren (Gibb) also did an excellent job blocking.”
As a team, the Gaels (6-2 overall, 1-1 in league) recorded 16 aces in all.
St. Edmond returns to the court Tuesday when they host Eagle Grove beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Gaels play two straight and four of six at home.
“We are very much looking forward to coming home,” Seeden said. “We want to keep working our offense and improving with each match.”
