Tritons tabbed baseball All-Americans

A pair of Iowa Central baseball standouts have been tabbed All-Americans by the NJCAA.

Freshman Harrison Bowman made the first team and classmate Cooper Nicholson landed on the second for the Tritons, who were ranked in the Top-5 for much of the season.

They were two of the three Div. II picks from the ICCAC with Des Moines Area pitcher Chance Key making the third-team.

Bowman, who has signed with Troy University, recorded a .436 batting average with 17 homers, 17 doubles and five triples. He drove in 94 runs, scored 66 and had 34 walks on the year.

Nicholson, the conference player of the year this past spring, hit .364 with 20 homers, 67 RBI, 17 doubles, 76 runs scored and 32 walks. He sported an on-base of .448 and a slugging of .757.

Bowman finished the year first in the country in RBI while Nicholson tied for second in homers. Bowman tied for sixth in homers and Nicholson tied for seventh in runs.

Iowa Central broke the NJCAA team record for home runs this past year with 134 and ranked first in the country in homers, extra-base hits, runs, slugging percentage, RBI and total bases.
