Eagle Grove impressive in rout

EAGLE GROVE — The Eagle Grove baseball team used a 10-run first to claim an 18-0 victory over St. Edmond here Thursday night in four innings.

Jake Jeske and Nolan Krauss each hit home runs for the Eagles, as both drove in three runs. Mack Morgan was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI as Brett Ascherl and Drake Canavan each drove in two.

For the Gaels, JT Laufersweiler and Kade Schlegel had two hits, with Hayden Derrig and Kinnick Henning each recording one.

“I was pleased with our approach at the plate against a very good pitcher in Jeske,” SEHS head coach Mike Szalat said. “I thought this was the first game all year where we didn’t bring that energy to the field.”

Jeske, who has signed to play at Iowa Central in the fall, recorded three strikeouts against two walks on the mound.

“We maybe found a couple more arms we can use this year and in the future in Jacob Nieland and Grant Galles,” Szalat said. “Both came in and did a nice job of throwing strikes.”

St. Edmond is now off until Monday when they host Webster City.

Starting at $2.99/week.
