The final day of the Iowa Central Golf Invitational was a mixed bag of emotions for head coach Kris Graewin.

While the Tritons were able to secure both individual titles, the men’s team championship eluded them after Morningside took gold here Saturday at the Fort Dodge Country Club.

Both Colby Ramsdale and Ivanna Becerra-Diaz came out with first place trophies, as Becerra-Diaz and Liv Tait carried the ICCC women to the team crown.

“It’s always great to get three victories in a weekend,” Graewin said. “Disappointing to not clean sweep the weekend but the men’s team didn’t finish both rounds. We have some work we need to do but we’ll get it figured out here in the next couple weeks.”

Ramsdale fired a 73 to go along with his 70 from Friday to top Pablo Colin of Morningside and Thomas Houdayer from Waldorf. Former Bishop Garrigan standout and current Briar Cliff golfer Andrew Arndorfer tied for fourth.

“Colby has found his game lately,” Graewin said. “He is playing a lot like he did in the middle of our fall schedule.”

Bailey Doe was 10th for the Tritons with Nico Booyens finishing 16th. Ben Christy was 22nd and Kai Hielckert finished 27th overall.

Iowa Central, who held the overnight lead, finished three shots back of Morningside and 10 ahead of ICCAC rival Des Moines Area.

Becerra-Diaz followed up her 78 by knocking two shots off her Saturday total. She finished eight strokes ahead of Tait with Des Moines Area’s Anne Van Hemert and Annie Burns in third and fourth overall.

As a team, the Tritons were 14 strokes ahead of the Bears with Waldorf third and Northwestern fourth.

“Ivanna struggled early in her round and was able to figure out her putting and finish strong,” Graewin said. “She’s helped take our program to that next level. She’s very quiet but she has a mean streak in her while she plays.

“Liv coming in and firing two solid rounds and another runner-up finish was great to see.”
