Pearlstone named new Triton tennis coach

Dr. Isaac Pearlstone has been named the new head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Iowa Central.

Pearlstone replaces Kenneth Michaud, who was serving as interim head coach.

Pearlstone has coached at Saint Louis University and Parkway High School in St. Louis for the better part of 12 years. He is a graduate of Truman State University, where he earned degrees in history and a master’s in elementary education.

From there, Pearlstone earned his Doctor of Educational Leadership from Maryville University.

“We are proud to announce the hiring of Dr. Isaac Pearlstone as our next head tennis coach here at Iowa Central,” ICCC athletic director Kevin Twait said. “Dr. Pearlstone brings a wealth of experience in coaching at both the high school and collegiate level. He will be a tireless recruiter who will build a team culture that our men and women will thrive in socially, academically and athletically.

“We anxiously await Isaac’s arrival to campus and are excited about the future of Triton tennis under his leadership.”

While serving as an assistant coach at Saint Louis, the program recorded its best win percentage and was ranked for the first time in the Top-100. He led a doubles team to its first Missouri state championship while at Parkway North.

A former player himself, Pearlstone was a state qualifier in doubles at Parkway North and played No. 1.

“I’m extremely excited and grateful to be the next head coach of men’s and women’s tennis at Iowa Central,” Pearlstone said. “I want to thank Kevin Twait, Guy Horn and the Iowa Central community for their support and for giving me the opportunity to lead the men’s and women’s tennis programs.

“Iowa Central is one of the best athletic programs in the nation and I’m ready to compete for national championships. I look forward to building great teams that achieve on the court, in the classroom, and as people.”

Pearlstone put together a record of 52-18 while competing as a United State Tenniss Association player, winning leagues in World Team and Gladiator. He is also the founder of Pearlstone Tennis, a company providing instruction to a range of athletes through video review and educational pedagogy.
