The Iowa Central sport shooting program took part in the ACUI/SCTP Collegiate Clay Target Championships in San Antonio recently, earning a national championship, four runner-up finishes and three more third place honors.

Nathan Swanson was the national champion in Class B of doubles skeet with Kaelan Smith finishing runner-up in Class C of super sporting clays.

As a team, the Tritons were second in HOA, American trap and doubles trap while placing third in American skeet, doubles skeet and super sporting clays.

Smith earned second team All-American honors. He was one of three to earn All-American status from the junior college ranks.

The team is coached by Jessica Gunderson, a former Triton competitor herself, and Ethan Bazyn.
