Gael girls win in Clarion

CLARION — The St. Edmond girls returned to the track here Tuesday night at the Cowgirl Relays.

Behind six event crowns, the Gaels won the Class B trophy.

Mariah Myers once again swept the throwing events, winning both the shot put and discus titles, while Josie Harvey won both the 100 hurdles and 400 hurdles. Anna Lursen finished first in the 400.

The distance medley relay of Ellie Knox, Brianna Saathoff, Sasha Hess and Hannah Landwehr also finished with a gold.

Myrah Lemon was the runner-up in the long jump with Michaela Leiting placing second in the 800 and Reese Lemberg second in the 1,500. The sprint medley, 4×800 and 4×400 relays all finished with silver medals.

Faith Shirbroun, Harvey, Saathoff and Hess ran the sprint medley with Knox, Landwehr, Leiting and Lursen running the 4×800. Leiting, Landwehr, Hess and Lursen comprised the 4×400.

“This was a fun meet,” SEHS head coach CJ Tracy said. “Everybody contributed up and down the lineup. We are so proud of each girl on this team. They have worked so hard each and every practice.

“It’s amazing they can come out of this and say they won a meet.”

Lursen placed third in the long jump, Knox third in the 800 and Lily Eslick third in the 1,500. Eslick was also fourth in the 3,000.

Shirbroun was fifth in the 100, Saathoff fifth in the 200 and the 4×200 of Shirbroun, Sophia Schlienz, Lemon and Saathoff placed fifth.

Next action for the Gaels will be Thursday when they run in Manson.
