Gael boys in action at GC

JEFFERSON — The St. Edmond boys picked up a handful of Top-5 finishes here Monday at the Greene County Ram Relays.

Overall, the Gaels placed sixth with ACGC holding off Greene County for top honors.

Hunter Horn scored silver in the high jump with the sprint medley relay of Thomas Cosgrove, Klay Baker, Aaron Hindt and JT Laufersweiler also placing second.

St. Edmond was also second in the 4×400 to end the night with Cosgrove, Hindt, Grant Galles and Anthony Valles completing the quartet.

“Everybody ran really great,” SEHS head coach Donn Larson said. “With not knowing if we are going to have a meet Tuesday, I ran them pretty hard. I thought they competed and we had a lot of PRs all over the place.”

Valles had a pair of thirds in the 400 and 1,600, as three Gael relays scored bronze medals. Those were the 4×200 (Hindt, Baker, Galles, Laufersweiler), the 4×800 (Valles, Jakob Koopman, Horn, Liam Shannon) and the distance medley (Cosgrove, Dominic McClain, Leo Ehn, Levi Odor-Westrum).

Horn was fifth in the 400 hurdles and Drake Yurkovac placed sixth in the 3,200. Koopman (800), Hindt (long jump), Ehn (discus) and Shannon (1,600) were all seventh, as was the 4×100 of McClain, Baker, Galles and Laufersweiler.

Thomas Knobbe finished eighth in the 3,200.

St. Edmond is scheduled to compete in Webster City Tuesday.
