“We’ve had a lot of tie-breaker matches, and it’s good for the girls to figure out how to mentally stay focused,” said Fort Dodge head coach Julie Astor. “We just have to correct a few mistakes in singles and that will help with confidence going into doubles.”

Fort Dodge captured one singles victories and earned three wins in doubles.

No. 1 Manuela Rodriguez earned a tight 6-2, 3-6, 10-7 victory over the Roughriders’ Scarlett Brown.

“This was Manuela’s toughest match so far,” Astor said. “They both are sophomores and really smart players.

“They are competitors and have good shot selections.”

Rodriguez teamed up with Grace Behrens to capture a 7-5, 6-4 victory in No. 1 doubles.

Janelle Derrig and Madge Hensley won 6-3, 4-6, 10-8.
