Tritons win ICCAC softball opener

The Iowa Central softball squad opened the ICCAC portion of their schedule with a doubleheader sweep of Iowa Lakes on Friday at Rogers Park.

Scores were 10-2 and 13-2 in favor of the Tritons. Both games went just five innings.

Iowa Central (18-9 overall) broke things open with eight runs in the third inning of the opener. Jayda Long was the winning pitcher, while also delivering two hits and a two-run home run at the plate.

Kaylee Cary added three RBI and also went deep.

It was more of the same in the nightcap rout of the Lakers (9-13). Long drove in three and contributed two more hits. Carly Ryan homered, scored twice and drove in four.

The Tritons scored six times in the second inning and seven more in the third.

Emma Hoyle was the winning pitcher.

Iowa Central hosts DMACC on Saturday for a twinbill beginning at 1 p.m.
