Dodgers dominate Mason City, 73-3
MASON CITY — The second-ranked Fort Dodge wrestling team rolled over Mason City here Tuesday night by a final of 73-3.
The Dodgers concluded their dual regular season with a record of 9-3 and will host a Class 3A regional dual meet next Tuesday inside the FDSH gym.
No. 10 Luke Fierke (285 pounds), Rylee Brown (150), Jesse Egli (157) and Damarion Ross (175) all picked up falls to lead the way for Fort Dodge, as top-ranked Koy Davidson (144) won by technical fall and both Hunter Kasperbauer (113) and No. 3 Dru Ayala (120) earned major decisions.
Top-rated Dreshaun Ross (215), Trace Rial (106), No. 10 Sam Davidson (126), Bo Marsh (132), seventh-rated Kane Butrick (138) and No. 7 Cal Hartman (190) were awarded forfeits.
Fierke (25-7) had a fastest fall, as the heavyweight pinned Alex Kenward in 21 seconds in the opening match of the dual after a forfeit for Dreshaun Ross (34-0) at 215. Damarion Ross (31-3), rated second, nearly eclipsed that mark, pinning Samuel Collins at 175 in 22 seconds.
Brown (21-17) and Egli (21-17) each scored first-period falls.
Fort Dodge will now prepare for the Iowa Alliance Conference Tournament on Saturday. Joining the Dodgers will be Ames, Des Moines East, Des Moines Lincoln, Des Moines North-Hoover, Des Moines Roosevelt, Marshalltown, Mason City, Ottumwa and Waterloo East.
The tournament begins at 10 a.m. in Des Moines.
