Area squads in action at Roethler

EMMETSBURG — A number of area wrestling teams competed in the annual Bob Roethler Invitational here on Saturday.

St. Edmond saw senior Zach Rossmanith place third at 190 pounds. Rossmanith rebounded from a semifinal loss to post a fall and a decision for bronze.

Sam Myer (138) and Adam Walker (215) both placed sixth for the Gaels.

In the 165-pound final, Emmetsburg’s Justin Wirtz remained undefeated with a pin of Pocahontas Area’s Ryan Panbecker. Logan Grimm of West Bend-Mallard took third at that weight.

E-Hawk Jace Nelson-Brown was the 175-pound champion, as was teammate Ryan Wirtz at 190.

John Ackerman and William Lawson of Pocahontas Area reached the finals at 120 and 150 pounds, respectively, as did Eagle Grove’s Mack Morgan at 126.

Hayden Schafer of Eagle Grove was third at 150.

Emmetsburg finished in fifth place, with Pocahontas Area taking seventh and Eagle Grove ninth. Hampton-Dumont/CAL won the team title, followed by Lake Mills, Estherville-Lincoln Central and Spencer.
