McCoid earns Player of Year

Landry McCoid had a breakout campaign for the Iowa Central women’s soccer team this past fall.

McCoid, who helped the Tritons reach the regional final and was named the ICCAC Div. II Player of the Year, added All-American honors to her resume.

The freshman made the NJCAA Div. II All-American first team as selected by the NJCAA Div. II Women’s Soccer Committee. McCoid was the only player from her conference named with on any of the three teams.

“I am very happy to see Landry rewarded for all she accomplished this season,” ICCC head coach Jordan Sibenaller said. “Landry was a key player for us and she was vital in a lot of big games.

“I am proud to see another student-athlete from the state of Iowa have success at the college level.”

A forward, McCoid recorded 35 goals, setting a new Div. II ICCAC record in the process. She finished with 79 total points in 17 games, adding nine assists.

Her 35 goals ranked second in the nation, as did her point total.

McCoid, a native of Ankeny and North Polk graduate, had nine game-winning kicks with three coming in conference matches. She will graduate in May and plans to continue playing at a four-year school.
