The Humboldt girls went 4-2 in dual action here Tuesday at the Iowa Central Dual Tournament inside Hodges Fieldhouse.

On the day, the Wildcats picked up victories over Anamosa (66-18), Denver (72-12), Lewis Central (48-36) and Spencer (48-36). They were edged by Crestwood (45-36) and fell to East Buchanan (48-36).

Claire Weydert and Claire Dieleman each went 6-0 with Brooklyn Robinson and Sophia Harris each going 5-1. Gracey May, Laina Dettmann, Elsie Hubbell and Danica Diedrick won four matches.

Ella Olson, Lily Allison and Gracie Lyon won three, Elyse Olson had two and both Kennedy Robinson and Mackenzie McMahon finished the day with a victory.

“Looking at the teams that were there, I was excited to see the tough teams from across the state,” Humboldt head coach Andy Newell said. “When they released the brackets, I knew our pool was going to be tough.

“To come out of the pool round at 2-2, I knew we had done what we could. In the Copper bracket, I challenged the girls to finish the day strong. They did exactly what I asked and we wrestled tough from top to bottom of the lineup.”

As a team, Humboldt recorded a total of 21 falls including five against Anamosa, Denver and Lewis Central.

The Wildcats return to action on Thursday, Dec. 7 at Algona. They will compete back here in Fort Dodge on Friday, Dec. 15 at the Don Miller Invitational.
