E-Hawks load up all-district team

The Emmetsburg football team claimed the Class 1A, District 2 title this season, and the E-Hawks were honored with several awards.

Jace Nelson-Brown was named offensive MVP with teammate Carson Baak earning defensive player of the year honors. Gage Jorgenson was the lineman of the year, Ben Thomsen head coach of the year and Mark Klaus assistant coach of the year.

Luke Wright of East Sac County was tabbed the special teams MVP.

Making the first team from Emmetsburg were Nelson-Brown, Jorgenson, Justin Wirtz, Baak, Gavin Swanson and JJ Fiene.

Manson Northwest Webster’s Logan Moline, Kamden Birkey, Matthew Condon and Caydin Anderson were on the first with Pocahontas Area’s Ryan Sommerlot, Blake Roberts, Ryan Panbecker and Gabe Ehn.

Charlie Veit, Luke Wernimont and Karter Ludwig of East Sac County along with Drake Canavan from Eagle Grove also made the team.

Second team selections included Emmetsburg’s Ryan Wirtz and Brayden Yates; Manson Northwest Webster’s Tatuem Hanson and Mason Anderson; Pocahontas Area’s Trevor Stuhrenberg and Lucas Kopriva; East Sac County’s William Smith and Wright; and Eagle Grove’s Connor Christopher and Trenton Robinson.

Honorable mention status was given to Emmetsburg’s Byron Maina, Collyn Trembly and Cameron Madden; Manson Northwest Webster’s Matthew Siefken, Ethon Morrow and Cooper Harman; Pocahontas Area’s Ethan Behrens, Dominic Aljets and Carter Frerk; East Sac County’s Bradyn Burns, Tate Lahr and Chandler Lahr; and Eagle Grove’s Hayden Schafer, Reece Demuth and Cam Sisson.
