Wagner in Top-20 for Dodgers at IAC meet

MASON CITY — The Fort Dodge cross country teams ran at the Iowa Alliance Conference meet here on Wednesday.

Dodger senior Michael Wagner turned in the top performance with a personal-best time of 17:35.8, crossing in 17th place overall.

Omarion Myers-Zimmerman (18:20.3) also set a personal best in the 28th position. Junior Shawn Roberts (18:34.6) was 33rd.

Freshman Cael Hansen (18:44.2) had a personal best as well and closed in 35th.

Aidan Recker had a PR of 19:20.2 to take 43rd, and Brady Major (19:30.4) also had a PR in the 45th spot. Owen Gruver placed 53rd with his best time of 20:34.9.

The Dodgers (156) finished in sixth place on the boys side. Des Moines Roosevelt was the champion with 40 points. Marshalltown (45) was second.

“Michael was 9th in the (IAC Northern Division) to earn second team all-conference (honors),” FDSH head coach Joe Jackson said. “Omarion had a personal best to slot in our No. 2 spot, with Shawn close behind. Cael, Aidan and Brady all PR’d to finish as our 4, 5 and 6.”

Roosevelt’s Owen Marett was the individual gold medalist in 15:52.1. Mason City’s Ra’Shaun Sinwell (16:27.9) was the runner-up.

On the girls’ side, Madeline Stephan had her top time of the season (24:14.3) and placed 32nd for FDSH. Paige Lewis (25:28.7) was 40th.

Dari Cook (26:10.8) had a PR and took 44th. Madison Carmody (26:53.3) was 48th.

“Maddie ran a very smart, consistent pace and moved up six places from the halfway point,” Jackson said.” Paige and Dari had strong races, and Maddie dropped a minute to fill our fourth spot. Katie finished out our counters with a near personal best even after tweaking an ankle in practice.”

Parker Gale (27:31.7 in 43rd) and Saiya Noborikawa (29:16.4 in 57th) competed for the Fort Dodge JV girls.

Conrad Greathouse (21:48.1), Josh Shields (22:09), Rapas Srinarongsiri (23:13.5), Brayden Kammerer (23:51.8), Abubakr Rahimov (24:03.7), Abraham Fisher (24:07) and Akramjon Abdurakhimov (24:35.1) ran for the Dodger JV boys.
