EMMETSBURG — Emmetsburg secured a spot in the next round of the Class 1A playoffs with a convincing 20-8 victory over Ridge View here Friday night.

The E-Hawks scored a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter to take a 13-0 lead into the break. They added a third score after the intermission to maintain control of the contest.

With the win, Emmetsburg is now 7-2 and has won six in a row since a Week 2 setback to Estherville-LC. During that stretch, they have allowed just 42 points.

The seven wins are the most since going 7-2 in 2020 for the school and matches the win total from the previous two seasons combined.

Second round playoff pairings are scheduled to be released Saturday morning.
