Ross finishes first in Waverly
WAVERLY — Fort Dodge’s Alexis Ross won four matches to claim gold at Waverly-Shell Rock on Tuesday night.
Ross (140), Fort Dodge’s returning state champion, bounced back after a third-place performance at last week’s Donnybrook in Coralville.
“She defintely took last weekend to heart,” said Fort Dodge head coach Jon Koenig. “She learned her lesson and made the improvements she needed.
“She just needs to get that drive going and get moving. She took care of business.”
Freshman Mariaha Benedict (125) went 4-1 and finished fifth.
“Mariaha is super excited and gaining confidence,” Koenig said. “She is getting better and we are looking forward to see what she can do.”
Izzy Feldhaus and (135) and Chloe Darby (145) finished third in the B bracket.
The Dodgers are back in action on Thursday when they wrestle against Des Moines Public beginning at 5:30 p.m.
