Tritons take down NIACC, 30-18

MASON CITY — The 19th-ranked Iowa Central wrestling team won their second straight road dual of the young season.

The Tritons (2-0 overall) knocked off NIACC 30-18 on Wednesday night.

“It’s nice to get a couple of wins on the road early in the year,” said ICCC head coach Luke Moffitt. “We were fortunate to come out with the victory. We are still learning and have a lot of new guys that are getting their feet wet with college wrestling.

“We are competing hard every time we come out. There is a lot of potential with this group.”

Iowa Central won seven of the 10 matches. Trentin Walker (125) earned the only bonus-point victory, recording a fall.

Justice Hefley (149), Quentin Saunders (184), Lohn Lovett (197) and Hector Garcia (HWT) prevailed as well.

Jaydale Whitlock (133) and Malikthy Ray (174) both won by forfeit.

Iowa Central is back in action on Wednesday, Nov. 30, hosting Iowa Western at 7 p.m.
