JEFFERSON -- The Greene County football team couldn't stop West Lyon here Friday night, falling in Class 2A playoff action, 43-7.
The Wildcats (8-2 overall) advance to face Central Lyon/George-Little Rock in the quarterfinals next Friday night. Central Lyon/George-Little Rock (10-0) topped Clarinda, 42-16, to advance.
Following a 7-7 tie at the end of the first quarter, West Lyon went on a run, 20 points over the second and third quarters thanks in large part to four Greene County (8-2) turnovers.
The lone touchdown for the Rams came in the first quarter when Gabe Ebersole hit Richard Daugherty on a 30-yard pass.
Greene County seniors Daugherty, Jesse Miller, Bork Ersnes, Patrick Daugherty and Josh Janssen all played for the finale time.
