Two more wins for Dodger girls

CARROLL — The Fort Dodge girls swim team ended their dual season with two victories in the Carroll pool on Thursday night.

The Dodgers knocked off Spencer, 49.5-44.5, and topped Carroll, 59-35.

“It was a great way to finish out our dual season,” said FDSH head coach Ashley Beaumont. “The girls swam well and it showed.”

Fort Dodge (7-5 overall) captured six victories, including a relay championship.

The quartet of Eileen Fierke, Raegan Wooldridge, Julia Eastman and Hailey Vogel won the 200 medley relay in 1:59.16.

“Spencer and Carroll have strong relays, so it was nice to win the 200 medley,” Beaumont said. “They didn’t have their best time, but they came together.”

Vogel and Eastman were both double winners. Vogel won the 50 freestyle (25.61) and the 100 freestyle (56.71). Eastman was the 100 butterfly champ (1:06.10) and took the 100 backstroke (1:05.83).

“With Julia and Hailey, it shows the strength we have with our underclassmen,” Beaumont said. “It’s great for them to get experience, as it will give them the opportunity to step up when Eileen graduates.”

Wooldridge captured the 500 freestyle in 5:59.38.

“Raegan just dominated the whole race,” Beaumont said. “She did great in the breaststroke, 100 IM and scored some big points.”

The 400 freestyle relay team of Makenna Kammerer, Addison Daniel, Delaney O’Connor and Wooldridge hit the wall second in the 400 freestyle relay (4:14.44).

The quartet of Fierke, Eastman, Kammerer and Vogel recorded a silver in the 200 freestyle relay (1:46.76).

Fierke was second in both the 200 IM (2:23.40) and 100 breaststroke (1:08.02). Kammerer was second in the 200 freestyle.

The Dodgers will be back in action on Oct. 18 at the Iowa Alliance Conference Meet in Marshalltown.
