Gaels lose twice at CYO

CARROLL — The St. Edmond baseball team dropped two games in the CYO tournament this weekend.

The Gaels (3-6 overall) lost to Remsen St. Mary’s 11-0 and 4-2 to Bishop Garrigan.

Landon Bartlett had the lone hit for the Gaels against St. Mary’s.

The Gaels took a 1-0 lead after two innings against the Golden Bears, but Garrigan tied it in the top of the third.

Bishop Garrigan went up 3-1 and the Gaels cut it to 3-2 before the Golden Bears tacked on the final run in the sixth.

St. Edmond had five hits in the contest, two by Drew Szalat. Jackson Palmer, Emanuel Perry and JT Laufersweiler also had hits. Laufersweiler had a double and an RBI.

Hayden Derrig suffered the loss for St. Edmond. Derrig went the distance, allowing seven hits. He struck out seven, while walking zero.

The Gaels are back in action on Monday when they travel to Clear Lake.
