Jarrett earns top ICCAC honors

Iowa Central quarterback Byron Jarrett was named the ICCAC Offensive Player of the Year, the league announced.

Jarrett was among several Tritons honored with all-ICCAC and all-region status.

Joining Jarrett on the all-conference team were Daylen Boddie, Desna Washington, Reggie Young, Maximus McCree, Reese Steele, Tristin Waugh, Noah Epley, Major Williams, CJ Christian and Jase Whitner.

All-region first team selections were Jarrett, Washington, Young, McCree, Waugh, Epley, Williams and Christian. Making the all-region second team were Boddie, Cal Weidemann, Steele, Elijah Heatherston, Bryant Barrier, Decari Randle, Bilhal Kone and Deante Nelson.

Jarrett has completed over 62 percent of his passes for 2,498 yards with 28 touchdowns and just five interceptions. He has also ran for 534 yards and a team-high 10 TDs.

Boddie leads the Tritons with 621 yards rushing, adding three touchdowns with 25 receptions for 225 yards and three more scores in the air. Washington is the leading receiver for Iowa Central, catching 35 passes for 755 yards and 10 TDs.

Young, McCree and Steele are all starters along the offensive line, helping the Tritons rack up 56 offensive touchdowns and over 475 yards per game.

Epley has a team-high 60 tackles with 7.5 for loss, an interception and a forced fumble. Waugh has recorded six sacks, nine tackles for loss and 43 tackles, Williams has 49 tackles and two interceptions, and Christian has 53 tackles with three picks. Whitner handles the long-snapping duties.

Iowa Central will face unbeaten Monroe on Sunday in the Graphic Edge Bowl in Cedar Falls.

Iowa Western’s Jacob Ellis was tabbed the top defensive player with Scott Strohmeier of Iowa Western named coach of the year.
