Teske, Lara both take 3rd at SDSU

BROOKINGS, S.D. — Brody Teske and Cayd Lara scored third place finishes for the Northern Iowa wrestling team here Sunday at the Daktronics Open hosted by South Dakota State.

Teske, a four-time state champion for Fort Dodge Senior High, earned bronze at 125 pounds, while Lara, a two-time state finalist for the Dodgers, was third at 157 pounds.

Teske went 3-1, earning a technical fall over Nebraska’s Jeremiah Reno, a fall vs. Tanner Jordan of South Dakota State and a 14-8 decision over Minnesota’s Jager Eisch. His lone loss came to Corey Cabanban from Iowa State, 4-3.

Lara also posted a 3-1 record with a decision vs. South Dakota State’s Jack Thomsen and a decision over teammate Derek Holschlag. He also scored a fall vs. Cael Swensen of South Dakota State and fell to Iowa State’s David Carr.

Triston Lara went 3-2 for the Panthers at 149 pounds. He earned wins over Andrew Flora of Iowa State, Sebas Swiggum of Minnesota and Clay Radenz of North Dakota State all via decision before being forced to injury default with a hand injury.

Northern Iowa returns to action on Sunday when they compete in the Harold Nichols Open in Ames.
