St. Edmond visits Perry to begin its 2021-22 campaign

PERRY — The St. Edmond girls open their season here on Tuesday vs. Perry.

Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Gaels (0-0 overall) enter the season with seven key players back from a year ago as head coach CJ Tracy begins his second season in charge.

Seniors Mya McClain, Kierstin Clark, Emma Alstott, Gracie Harvey, Alyson Nieland and Alyxis Mericle are joined by sophomore Silvia Heldorfer as returning letterwinners.

Harvey and Alstott are entering their fourth seasons on varsity.

“We have some really good experience coming back, and have added some nice pieces as well,” Tracy said. “We could be a really deep team this season, which should help keep our intensity up throughout games.”

Joining Harvey, Alstott, McClain and Nieland in the starting lineup will be junior Anna Kolacia.

St. Edmond won four games in 2020-21, including a postseason contest.

Perry (0-0) went 2-20 last year, earning wins over Saydel and West Central Valley. The Jayettes return junior Lydia Olejniczak, senior Jayna Kenney, junior Kathryn West and senior Michelle Tobar.

Olejniczak averaged 13.4 points per game last season, adding nearly seven rebounds. Kenney posted six points and four rebounds.
