Humboldt moves to 7-0

GILBERT — Fourth-ranked Humboldt ran all over Gilbert here Friday night, 34-10.

The Wildcats improved to 7-0 for the first time since 2005.

“We started slow,” Humboldt head coach Derrick Elman said. “But the kids responded. I’m really proud of them.”

Caden Matson was 11-for-16 passing for 164 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions. He also ran for 167 yards on 16 attempts.

Jacob Heier caught four passes for 52 yards including three touchdowns while Will Orness had six receptions for 100 yards. Orness also retruned an interception for a score.

Lance Coon had seven carries for 93 yards for Humboldt and Tyler McKimmey had nine tackles.
