Adams, Doster earn all-district honors

South Central Calhoun’s Sally Musselman and Kortney Riley were among those honored as academic all-state softball players by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.

Musselman hit .388 with 20 RBI and was the top pitcher for the Titans, going 10-12 with 76 strikeouts. Riley hit .316 with 13 RBI, 21 runs and stole 13 bases.

The IGCA also named all-district performers with Class 5A state champion Fort Dodge earning two in Jalen Adams and Tristin Doster. FDSH head coach Andi Adams was the West district coach of the year.

In 3A, Kendal Calrk and Jori Hajek were named along with Algona’s Lillian Etherington. Making the 2A all-district team were North Union’s Emily Meyer, Sam Nielsen, Olivia Von Bank and Cassie Beadle, as head coach Kim Price was also honored.

South Central Calhoun’s Emma Anderson, Eagle Grove’s Lea Friedl and East Sac County’s Maty Quirk earned recognition as well.

Newell-Fonda, which won the 1A title, had Ella Larsen, Bailey Sievers and Kierra Jungers make the team. St. Edmond’s Kacey Kruthoff was also honored.
