Habhab Lakeside Am on the tee Sunday

The annual Travis J. Habhab Lakeside Amateur golf tournament expects to attract nearly 100 players to Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge on Sunday.

Austin Morrow is the defending champion after carding a 70-37–107 in 2020. Morrow edged seven-time Lakeside Am champ Kevin Ault, former city winner Eddie Doyle, and ex-Webster City standout Alec Fuhs by a single stroke.

Defending Humboldt George Lee Amateur champion Charlie West (71-38–109), Ned Palmer (72-40–112), Kole Petersen (75-37–112) and Jordan Morrow (75-38–113) rounded out the Top-8 last June.

Four-time Lakeside Am gold medalist Andrew Huseman is also entered.

Tee times begin at 8:20 a.m. and run through 10:25. Players will start on either hole No. 1 or 10.

The championship nine, at approximately 3 p.m., will be completed on the back side. The Top-16 with ties from the morning session advance.

Habhab, a 2001 Fort Dodge Senior High graduate, worked in both the clubhouse and on the course at Lakeside for superintendent Chad Graaf. He passed away in 2014 at the age of 32.

The tournament was rededicated to honor him in 2015.

Tee times are still available by calling the pro shop at (515) 576-6741. Cost is $30 per player.

Lakeside is a par 36-36-72 layout.
