Gaels handle C-G/D

CLARION — The St. Edmond baseball team picked up a 4-2 victory over Clarion-Goldfield/Dows here Friday night.

Tyler McDowell went the distance, allowing just three hits with four strikeouts and three walks.

Grant Heldorfer was 3-for-3 while John Nemmers, Peyton Scott and Joe Li each had two hits.

“Tyler pitched another really good game,” SEHS head coach Mike Szalat said. “He looked good against Gehlen at the CYO last weekend, so as a sophomore, I’m happy to see his progression and excited for his growth.”

Landon Bartlett drove in a run as the Gaels plated one run in the first, two in the second and another in the seventh.

“We had good production, especially at the top of the order,” Szalat said. “But we also had some things happen on the bases that we have to clean up. Eleven hits and just four runs, we’ve got to do a better job with that.”

St. Edmond hosts Humboldt on Monday at Rogers Park. First varsity pitch is set for 7:30 p.m.
