Dodger baseball team swept at Mason City

MASON CITY — The Fort Dodge baseball team dropped a pair of games here Monday to Mason City.

Scores were 14-6 and 11-5.

In the opener, the Dodgers took a 6-5 lead after scoring four runs in the fifth, but the Mohawks answered right back, plating four in the fifth and five more in the sixth.

Drake Callon, Christian Davidson and Carson Peterson each had an RBI while Connor Carver came on with a two-RBI single. Jace Ulrich, Peterson, Eli Elsbecker, Sawyer Springer and Jerry Chada all scored once.

“We had 16 walks in the doubleheader,” FDSH head coach Blake Utley said. “We need to make the plays. That includes getting ahead in the count, making the plays and just executing.”

In the nightcap, a five-run fourth gave Fort Dodge the 5-1 lead, but Mason City again answered, plating five in the fourth and five more in the fifth.

Davidson had two hits and scored a run, Jake Wagner drove in two and both Ulrich and Triston Bockoven had an RBI. Callon, Davidson, Ulrich, Bockoven and Carver scored a run each.

The Dodgers host Marshalltown on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
