Maehl 2nd at CIML Meet

MASON CITY — The Fort Dodge girls track and field team competed here Tuesday night at the CIML Iowa Conference Invitational.

The Dodgers placed fifth overall with Lainey Maehl finishing second in the shot put with a throw of 32-1.75. Ankeny was first followed by Ankeny Centennial, Ames and Mason City, with Marshalltown placing sixth.

Fort Dodge’s 4×200 relay of Keyonna Douglas, Haley Wills, Tory Bennett and Aleaha Pommer finished third in 1:51.54 with Aliyah Henry adding a third in the discus with a throw of 105-3.

Maia Davis (long jump), Martyne Lowery (100) and the 4×200 relay of Douglas, Wills, Bennett and Lowery were all fourth.

“It was a good night,” FDSH head coach Todd Constable said. “We saw some fast kids and good competition here as we prepare now for districts.”

In the junior varsity events, Keymora Douglas finished third in the 200 with both the 4×200 and distance medley relays placing second. Catherine Daniel, Lydia Lara, Ava Clay and Davis comprised the 4×200 with Lauyrnn Anderson, Douglas, Morgan Bodholdt and Maehl the distance medley.

The Dodgers run in Waukee next Thursday in a Class 4A district meet.
