The Fort Dodge boys soccer team had a strong opening half, but couldn’t hold off Mason City on Tuesday inside Dodger Stadium.

The Dodgers (1-11 overall) lost 3-1 to the Mohawks (4-9).

Mason City got on the board first in the opening half.

The Dodgers responded with a cross from Ryan Madden as Milo Hamilton finished it for Fort Dodge’s only goal of the match.

“We played well in the first half and we were moving the ball well,” said Fort Dodge head coach Joe Jackson. “We were working it through midfield and getting to the corner and delivering crosses.”

The second half was a different story as the Dodgers weren’t able to find anything offensively.

“In the second half, we just stopped moving the ball through the midfield,” Jackson said. “It was disappointing. We touchded the ball poorly and weren’t able to get any shots on goal in the second half.

“We played hard, but the delivering of the ball was not there.

The Dodgers are back in action on Thursday when they travel to Humboldt.
