Lynx, WB-M claim gold in Gowrie
GOWRIE — The Webster City boys won four events and edged Madrid by three points to claim the Southeast Valley Invitational on Monday night.
The Lynx (126.5) clipped Madrid (123) by three-and-a-half points. Roland-Story (103.5) was third and Gilbert (67) was fourth. Pocahontas Area (51) was fifth, followed by Manson Northwest Webster (46), Southeast Valley (40) and Kuemper (32).
West Bend-Mallard (151) earned the Class B team crown, followed by the Gilbert JV squad (95).
J.J. Moore claimed double gold for the Lynx, winning both throwing events. Moore won the shot put with a mark of 54-05, and the discus with an effort of 156-08.
Kaiyu Levongkhom was the other individual winner for the Lynx, capturing first in the 110-meter hurdles (15.33).
The Lynx 4×200 quartet also earned gold in a time of 1:37.40.
Webster City finished with six runner-up performances and four bronze-medal showings.
Madrid won four events. The Tigers were second six times, and had two third-place performances.
Manson Northwest Webster’s Cael Collins grabbed first in the 400-meter hurdles (1:01.79). The Cougar shuttle hurdle relay team (1:05.27) finished first.
Southeast Valley’s Kaleb Scott was the high jump winner with a mark of 6-2.
Pocahontas Area’s Trey Oehlertz (10.96) came in first in the 100-meter dash.
West Bend-Mallard’s Klayton Jones was a triple winner for the Wolverines. Jones grabbed gold in the long jump (17-3.5), 200-meter dash (24.84) and 400-meter dash (56.77).
Sam Fehr was the 400-meter hurdles champion for WB-M (1:06.14).
The Wolverines 4×800 (9:37.93), distance medley (4:29.44) and 4×400 (3:58.80) were also champions.
