COUNCIL BLUFFS — The Iowa Central football team knows exactly what is at stake this Saturday.

The seventh-ranked Tritons and No. 6 Iowa Western square off for a second time here. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. from Titan Stadium.

Having already secured a 34-20 victory vs. Iowa Central (3-1 overall, 1-1 in ICCAC) earlier this year, the Reivers (3-1, 2-0) would clinch the conference title with a win.

Last year, the Tritons claimed bragging rights in the rivalry on their way to a second consecutive Graphic Edge Bowl triumph.

“We had a solid week of practice,” Iowa Central head coach Jesse Montalto said. “Probably our best Tuesday practice of the year. The guys feel more locked in and better prepared for this game.”

Since that setback to Iowa Western, Iowa Central has posted convincing 41-7 and 58-6 wins over the Grand View JV and Ellsworth. Brady Pope and Byron Jarrett have combined for 10 passing touchdowns during that time.

Pope is completing nearly 56 percent of his passes for 527 yards with seven scores and two interceptions while Jarrett has 269 yards passing, seven TDs, no picks and another 143 yards on the ground. Jadon Washington leads the rushing attack with 304 yards and three touchdowns.

Madison Ridgeway and Jayce Levy have a combined 30 receptions and over 260 yards with seven scores while Clayton Ollendieck is coming off a three-TD performance.

“We need to do a better job up front and establish the run game,” Montalto said. “Our kids are playing with more confidence.”

The Triton defense that will be tasked with containing Nate Glantz includes Deonte Bryant, a freshman with five sacks. Tristin Waugh has four sacks and Dylan Cain leads the way with 23 tackles.

Glantz is completing nearly 64 percent of his throws, racking up 734 yards and eight scores with another 99 yards on the ground. Kedrick Osuorah has 115 yards rushing and Donovan Moorer leads the team with 13 receptions for 205 yards and three TDs.

In the first meeting, Glantz had 401 yards passing and two scores as Michael Love had six receptions for 139 yards with a 66-yard touchdown and Moorer caught five passes for 97.

“We have to do a better job of containing Glantz,” Montalto said. “We want to play at a quicker tempo compared to the last two weeks, but I’m sure Iowa Western does as well.”

Starting at $4.94/week.
