Gael girls win three events

HAMPTON — The St. Edmond girls track team finished second at the Hampton-Dumont Invitational on Friday.

“It was a great night to run,” said St. Edmond head coach Monica Shelly. “We loved the opportunity to run against some bigger schools.

“Our girls reallys tepped up to the plate as we had some great competition.”

The Gaels won three relay titles and Aubrey Bemrich won the 800.

St. Edmond’s 4×800 relay team of Caroline Shelly, Micahela Leiting, Emma Alstott and Bemrich won the event.

The quartet of Mya McClain, Gracie Harvey, Avery Galles and Bemrich won the distance medley.

The 4×400 team of Shelly, Alstott, McClain and Galles, was also victorious.

Bemrich won the 800 in 2:33.66 just ahead of Shelly.

Alstott was second in the 400 hurdles.

“Their hard work is paying off,” Shelly said. “I can’t say enough great things about this amazing group of girls.

“The relays are really coming together. We ahve some more fine tuning to do, but we are very excited right now with our times.”

The Gaels are back in action on Thursday when they run at the North Central Conference Meet.
