Gael boys finish second at Markert Relays

MANSON — The Emily Markert Coed Relays brought together a handful of teams from around the area here Thursday night to the Keith Hart Athletic Complex.

In the boys standings, ACGC finished ahead of St. Edmond with Pocahontas Area, South Hamilton, OABCIG and Manson Northwest Webster rounding out the Top-6.

Newell-Fonda, South Central Calhoun, East Sac County, Southeast Webster, West Bend-Mallard and MVAOCOU completed the 12-team field.

South Hamilton was crowned the team champion on the girls side ahead of the host Cougars with Pocahontas Area, Southeast Valley and St. Edmond to follow.

Manson Northwest Webster’s Dayton Snell claimed the 110 hurdles with the Cougar shuttle hurdle relay also earning first.

For St. Edmond, both the 4×800 and 4×400 relays were winners.

South Central Calhoun’s Cole Corey and Pocahontas Area’s Trey Oehlertz won two events. Corey was first in the high jump and 400 hurdles while Oehlertz won both the 100 and 200.

The Indians were also the winners in the 4×200 and 4×100 relays with Southeast Valley’s Sam Hanson claiming the long jump.

Maddie Moline was a double-winner for the Cougars, claiming both the 3000 and 1500. Manson NW also won the shuttle hurdle relay.

Avery Galles picked up gold in the 200 and the Gaels won the distance medley relay.

Kiersten Fisher won three events for Southeast Valley, placing first in the high jump, 100 hurdles and long jump.

Bailey Sievers from Newell-Fonda won the 800 and the Mustangs also claimed first in the 4×800 while Morgan Devereaux was the shot put winner.
