WEBSTER CITY — A number of area schools competed in the Lynx Invitational girls track meet here on Thursday.

Clarion-Goldfield/Dows placed second to team champion Iowa Falls-Alden. Algona, Webster City and St. Edmond followed the Cowgirls.

The Gaels fared well in the relay events, capturing the 4×400, 4×800 and distance medley golds. Caroline Shelly, Emma Alstott, Mya McClain and Avery Galles took the 4×4 in 4:29.01.

The 4×8 quartet of Micahela Leiting, Aubrey Bemrich, Shelly and Alstott won in 10:31.74, and the distance medley foursome of Gracie Harvey, McClain, Galles and Bemrich earned a title in 4:39.98.

“I am very proud of our girls,” SEHS head coach Monica Shelly said. “We’ve had a tough week of workouts. We had a meet cancelled on Tuesday, so we capitalized on the extra practice. We have some tired legs, but that is to be expected at this point in our season.

“Our girls had some great relay finishes. They’ve been working hard to get their times down. We still have work to do, but we are in a great place right now. We have an amazing group of girls — they always rise to the challenge.”

Elly Berry, McClain, Harvey and Galles were edged by Algona in the sprint medley, recording a time of 1:59.66. Alstott was a runner-up in the 400 hurdles (1:10.71).

For C-G/D, Matea Conlon captured the 100-meter dash title in 12.94. Kennedy Trca was the 100-meter hurdles winner in 17.61.

Cowgirl Morgan Middleton prevailed in the shot put with a mark of 39-1. The sprint medley team of Lexie Lane, Kendall Lienemann, Conlon and Kinnetz also took first in 1:57.51, as did the 4×100 relay (Mackenna Hasty, Lienemann, Conlon and Lane, 53.67) and shuttle hurdle relay (Alaina Freisleben, Natalie Kirstein, Clarissa Hasty and Trca, 1:14.92).

Algona’s A’Lailah Perry was golden in the discus (95-2), and the Bulldogs’ 4×200 quartet of Alexa Chase, Ava Henry, Dionna VanGorkom and Ella Lawson prevailed with a time of 1:53.31.

Webster City’s Adeline Tesdahl earned the 400 hurdles crown in 1:17.20 and the long jump (15-4). Alexis Nichols won the high jump in 4-10.

St. Edmond captured the junior varsity sprint medley relay (Jacey Ash, Jordyn Putney, Kaili Henning and Andee Barwin, 2:10.13) and the 4×200 (Mara Shannon, Aleah Anderson, Henning and Berry, 2:05.77).
