A commanding 11-0 run in the third quarter helped the Iowa Central women put Marshalltown away here Saturday inside Hodges Fieldhouse, 72-61.

Sophomore Isabell West recorded her sixth straight double-double, Carley West had a career-high 19 points and Nevaeh Moeschter added 17 off the bench for the Tritons (4-4 overall, 4-4 in ICCAC), who have now won two straight.

Isabell West finished with 10 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and two blocks while Nevaeh Galloway added four points, seven boards and blocked six shots.

“It was a little rough there in the first quarter, but once we started getting into our defense, it picked up,” Iowa Central head coach Brian Ortmeier said. “I thought our defensive really fueled our offense and provided a spark. We were able to create points off steals and stops.

“It was good to see Carley get on track. She did a nice job of getting open looks and converting.”

After falling behind 21-18 in the first to the Tigers (1-6, 1-6), the Tritons answered late, taking a lead into the half. In the third, an 11-0 run grew to 18-5 as Iowa Central led by nine.

For Marshalltown, Carolina Rodriguez-Sanchez had 16 points with 12 rebounds while Eva Zaragoza added 14 and Nuria Castillo 13. Carla Dorta-Perez scored nine points with 10 assists.

Next action for Iowa Central will be on Tuesday at Iowa Western.
