Teske goes 2-0 in Ames
AMES — Fort Dodge graduate Brody Teske and Carter Isley each earned wins to bookend Northern Iowa’s dual against Missouri, but the Tigers won the rest of the bouts to earn a 34-6 neutral-site win Sunday at Hilton Coliseum.
Teske faced Connor Brown, both are ranked in the FloWrestling Top-25. The dual was a back and forth battle, but Teske tied the bout with a takedown in the final seconds to force sudden-victory.
He picked up another takedown in the overtime to earn the 12-10 win.
Teske (125), Fort Dodge’s four-time state champion and all time win leader defeated Iowa State All-American Alex Mackall (6-4) in an extra match.
Fort Dodge’s two-time state champion Triston Lara (149) lost fought to the whistle against Missouri’s third-ranked Brock Mauller (5-3).
Fort Dodge state champion Drew Bennett (141) and FDSH graduate Cayd Lara (157) both lost.
Bennett earned a 7-3 decision over Charlie Klepps of Iowa State in an extra match.
UNI was originally scheduled to face Arizona State as well, but the dual was canceled because of positive COVID-19 tests in the ASU program.
The Panthers open the home schedule on Jan. 24 at the McLeod Center.
UNI hosts Oklahoma State at 3 p.m. The Sooners take on Iowa State at 1 p.m. before the UNI-Oklahoma dual.
