Senior Night for Gaels

It’s take two for the St. Edmond wrestling team and their final home dual of the season on Senior Night.

The Gaels will honor senior state qualifier Ryan Duckett on his final evening in the Gael gym.

“This meet is very important for Ryan,” said St. Edmond head coach Eugene Carlson. “He has been part of this Gael program for the past six years and while wrestling in youth competition. This will be a special night for him.

“He is a wonderful kid and has developed into a strong leader for this team.”

Algona and Hampton-Dumont will make up a dual to start things off at 6 p.m. Clear Lake will then face St. Edmond, followed by Hampton-Dumont and Clear Lake. The night will wrap up with St. Edmond and the Bulldogs.

Also wrestling for the Gaels will be Ronnie Orres (106), Emiliano Guillen (145), Grant Webster (170), Tyler Rossmanith (182) and Zach Rossmanith (195).

Tyler Rossmanith is coming off a second place finish at Ackley last weekend. Orres was third.

“We just have to take one step at a time,” Carlson said. “We are coming off a tournament with some good energy last weekend.”

“We have to set realistic goals. I told the guys first thing is we have to get a loss back and we tried to drill that into them. If they lost to their opponent before, turn it around quickly.”
