Gaels head to Eagle Grove

The St. Edmond basketball squads are back on the court Monday, as the Gaels head to Eagle Grove.

The girls’ varsity contest tips at 6:15 p.m., with the boys to follow.

The Gaels girls (1-8 overall) take on the Eagles (3-8) after splitting a pair of games last week. St. Edmond defeated Webster City last Tuesday, 30-29, before suffering a 48-32 setback at Algona last Friday.

Senior Leah Neverman is averaging 9.3 points and 8.8 rebounds per game for the Gaels.

The EGHS girls own wins over Belmond-Klemme and Lake Mills, and last Friday, they routed North Iowa, 55-30. Seniors Lea Friedl (8.4 points) and Hannah Simpson (8.1) have led the way for the Eagles offensively so far this season.

The St. Edmond boys are 3-6 after splitting last week with Webster City (52-49 win) and Algona (51-43 loss) on the road. Junior Quinten McCarville (12.4 points, 5.5 rebounds), junior Hayden Mayer (9.6 points) and seniors Drew Schaeffer and Anthony Lacina (8.6 each) have been the catalysts for head coach Adolph Kochendorfer’s squad.

The Eagle Grove boys (0-11) are paced on offense by senior Chase Mason (7.6) and freshman Drake Canavan (5.5 points, 5.7 rebounds).
