Fort Dodge girls lose to No. 4 Jaguars
ANKENY — No. 4 (Class 5A) Ankeny Centennial cruised to a 65-24 victory over the Fort Dodge girls basketball squad here on Tuesday.
The Jaguars (6-1 overall) went up 23-4 by the end of the first quarter and never looked back.
Junior Tory Bennett finished with six points for the Dodgers (2-6). Sophomore Lainey Maehl added five, sinking 3 of 4 free throw attempts.
Fort Dodge, which dropped its third straight, made only nine field goals. The Dodgers also went just 5 of 12 at the foul line.
Lizzie Strom (13 points) and Maggie Phipps (12) paced Centennial.
FDSH returns to action at home on Friday versus Marshalltown. The Dodgers then head to No. 3 Waterloo West on Saturday.
