Rough road trip for Fort Dodge girls
ANKENY — The Fort Dodge girls were unable to keep the momentum from their win over Mason City going here Friday night, falling to Ankeny, 74-44.
After scoring an overtime victory vs. the Mohawks on Tuesday night, the Dodgers fell into a big hole after the first quarter and could not climb out against the Hawkettes, who are 3-0 to start the season.
Senior Tristin Doster paced FDSH (1-3 overall) with 10 points. Cheyenne Miller-Hameed added nine, and sophomore Lainey Maehl contributed seven.
Abigail Johnson had a game-high 19 for the Hawkettes.
Ankeny was able to build a 23-10 lead after the first quarter, pushing the advantage to 45-24 by halftime.
Ankeny has won each of the past five meetings since a 60-44 victory for the Dodgers in 2016. The Hawks are 14-1 over the last 15 games between the two schools.
Fort Dodge is at Carlisle Tuesday night to conclude the pre-holiday portion of its schedule.
