Area volleyball players make all-district team

Kiersten Fisher, three players from Clarion-Goldfield/Dows and two from Humboldt led the list of volleyball players honored as all-district selections by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.

Fisher, a senior for Southeast Valley who recently committed to the University of Iowa to run track, finished the year third in Class 3A in kills with 409 and 11th overall. She was part of the 3A West district team.

For the Cowgirls, Morgan Middleton, Jadyn Jondle and Alaina Friesleben were all named in 3A to the Central district, with Katrina TerHark earning coach of the year honors.

Middleton ranked second in 3A for kills with 491, which was third in the entire state.

Clarion-Goldfield/Dows won the North Central Conference title and advanced to the state semifinals.

Jori Hajek and Deni McDaniel were named to the same 3A team for the Wildcats, who advanced to state for the first time in program history.

East Sac County’s Bailey Wollesen and Brianna Boeckman were named in 2A Northwest with Emmetsburg’s Macy McAllister. In 1A, Audi Crooks from Bishop Garrigan was joined by Newell-Fonda’s Macy Sievers, Ella Larsen and Anna Bellcock along with Danielle Hoyle of Paton-Churdan.

Marilyn Murra from Newell-Fonda was the 1A North Central coach of the year.
