Triton basketball preview

THE TIP: The Iowa Central women’s and men’s basketball teams will host NIACC for Jam the Gym inside Hodges Fieldhouse. Women’s action is set for 1 p.m. with the men to follow at 3 p.m.

WOMEN’S PROBABLES: Iowa Central (15-10 overall, 6-5 ICCAC): Maraeja Cross, so., 9.2; Anni Cummings, fr., 6.8; Jordan Engbrecht, fr., 8.0; Isabell West, fr., 13.5; Jhordyn Chalmers, fr., 3.7.

NIACC (25-1, 12-0): Sierra Lynch, fr., 15.0; Sanaa Smith, fr., 6.4; Kelcie Hale, so., 9.4; Autam Mendez, so., 15.4; Sierra Morrow, fr., 15.1

LAST MEETING: In the first meeting this season, NIACC won 90-59.

LAST TIME OUT: Iowa Central is coming off a 79-59 win over Little Priest Tribal College. Engbrecht paced the Tritons with 24 points. Aaliyah Hull (19), West (15) and Chalmers (12) also reached double digits.

ABOUT THE TROJANS: Top-ranked NIACC is coming off a 116-23 win over Ellsworth. Mendez led NIACC with 20 points and Sydney Wetlaufer came off the bench to score 20. Lynch had 18 and Shianaana Secody added 16. Morrow (13) and Smith (11) also had double digits.

MEN’S PROBABLES: Iowa Central (9-15 overall, 3-7 ICCAC): Ayris Abdelnassar, fr., 7.5; Andrew Gibb, fr., 15.9; Jeremy Kambomba, so., 2.6; Javonte Keck, fr., 8.6; Marquis Henry, so., 10.2.

NIACC (20-5, 6-4): James Harris, so., 14.5; Wendell Matthews, so., 16.7; Quentin Hardrict, so., 17.8; Marshaun Carroll, fr., 3.1; Chandler Dean, so., 7.0.

LAST MEETING: In the last meeting against NIACC, the Trojans won 87-80.

LAST TIME OUT: Iowa Central is coming off an 83-58 victory over Little Priest Tribal College. St. Edmond graduate Andrew Gibb led the Tritons with 17 points. Arthur Weston Jr. came off the bench to score 14, while Zack Foulks had 12.

ABOUT THE MOHAWKS: 12th-ranked NIACC has won three straight games and is coming off a 93-87 win over Dakota County Technical College. Deundra Roberson came off the bench to score 21. Hardricht (18), Harris (13), Matthews (13) and Trey Sampson (10) all reached double figures.
