Dodger girls fall to Mohawks

MASON CITY — The Fort Dodge girls basketball team dropped a 70-41 decision to Mason City on Friday night.

The Dodgers (7-14 overall, 2-8 CIML Iowa Conference) couldn’t get anything going in the first half as they trailed 39-20 heading into the locker room.

Aleaha Pommer led the Dodgers with 10 points, while Jalen Adams had eight and Haley Wills chipped in with seven points.

Jaeda Whitner led the Mohawks with 22 points and Anna Deets added 17 points.

“We struggled defending Whitner and Deets,” said Fort Dodge head coach Scott Messerly. “We just couldn’t get any offensive rhythm going.”

Mason City (11-10, 5-4) swept the season series with the Dodgers, beating Fort Dodge 59-47 in the Dodger gym.

The Dodgers open postseason play next Saturday when they travel to Waukee. The Warriors are ranked fourth and beat the Dodgers 82-29 and 70-26.

Fort Dodge — Tory Bennett 4, Jalen Adams 8, Aleaha Pommer 10, Ellie White 2, Cheyenne Miller-Hameed 2, Tristin Doster 4, Haley Wills 7, Lainey Maehl 2.
