BASKETBALL PREVIEW: St. Edmond vs. Iowa Falls-Alden

THE TIP: It will be Senior Night inside the Gael gym as St. Edmond welcomes in North Central Conference rival Iowa Falls-Alden. The girls contest begins at 6:15 p.m. with the boys to follow.

GIRLS PROBABLES: St. Edmond (0-19 overall, 0-13 in North Central Conference): Kelli Kersten, soph., 2.5; Cambrie McBride, sr., 7.8; Aubrey Bemrich, jr., 1.5; Leah Neverman, jr., 8.8; Gracie Harvey, soph., 3.3.

SENIOR NIGHT: The Gaels will honor seniors Cambrie McBride, Emma Neverman and Jocy Timmerman during the doubleheader.

LAST MEETING: The Cadets picked up their first league win of the season, downing St. Edmond, 53-23. Jenny Wibholm led three players in double figures with 17. Cambrie McBride led SEHS with eight points.

LAST TIME OUT: St. Edmond fell to Clarion-Goldfield/Dows, 58-19. Iowa Falls-Alden picked up a 39-36 victory over South Hamilton.

ABOUT THE CADETS: Iowa Falls-Alden has gone 2-2 over its last four. Jenny Wibholm leads the team in points, made field goals, made free throws, rebounds, assists and steals.

BOYS PROBABLES: St. Edmond (6-12, 3-10): Connor Bocken, sr., 10.6; Jed Tracy, sr., 5.9; Drew Schaeffer, jr., 6.9; Cael Kolacia, jr., 7.9; Brock Stanek, jr., 2.3.

Iowa Falls-Alden (10-8, 7-6): Brody Steinfeldt, sr., 4.2; Karson Sharar, jr., 22.8; Logan Aldinger, sr., 11.5; Caden Mentzer, sr., 6.4; Blake Janssen, soph., 8.4.

SENIOR NIGHT: This marks the final home game for Gael seniors Connor Bocken, Charlie Shelly, Jerris Duncan, Jed Tracy, Jackson Bemrich and Ethan Lursen.

LAST MEETING: The Cadets won in Iowa Falls, 76-47. Karson Sharar scored 24 and grabbed 11 rebounds, knocking down five 3-pointers. Drew Schaeffer led SEHS with 13 points.

LAST TIME OUT: St. Edmond claimed its second straight win, topping Clarion-Goldfield/Dows, 56-51, as Drew Schaeffer scored 21 points. Iowa Falls-Alden had its two-game win streak snapped by South Hamilton, 60-54.

ABOUT THE CADETS: Junior Karson Sharar was an all-NCC performer last year and has knocked down 57 triples this season. Iowa Falls-Alden is coached by Michael Collison, the brother of former NBA standout and Fort Dodge native Nick Collison.
