Tigers too much for Dodger girls

WEST DES MOINES — The Fort Dodge girls basketball team got off to a relatively strong start against West Des Moines Valley, but couldn’t keep up with the Tigers on Monday night.

The Dodgers (3-9 overall) dropped a 75-35 contest to Valley (5-5).

Valley sophomore Meredith Rieker had 21 points to lead the Tigers, who had 12 players reach the scoring column. Rieker was 7-for-16 from the field and connected on five three-pointers.

The Tigers had 13 three-pointers overall.

Sophomores Tory Bennett and Aleaha Pommer led the Dodgers with 11 and 10 points respectively, while Ellie White and Cheyenne Miller-Hameed had seven each.

The Dodgers are back in action on Tuesday night when they host Waukee at 6:15 p.m.
