Fort Dodge splits in bowling vs. rival Mason City

The Fort Dodge girls bowling squad defeated rival Mason City on Monday, while the boys dropped a dual to the Mohawks.

The Dodger girls won, 2656-2270. The boys fell short, 2985-2903.

Aryssa Lumsden paced the girls with a 375 series. Leah Sanck was next in line at 371.

Carson Werning had a 458 for the FDSH boys, while Kaleb Anderson rolled a 427.

“The girls are really starting to click,” Dodger head coach Nick Vinson said. “This is the second straight meet they’ve been over 2600, which is a great sign. Alyssa continues to really establish herself and build her confidence.

“The boys just can’t seem to catch a break. We’re not making any excuses, but they just seem to be getting the best from their opponents every time out. But we’re showing signs. It was great to see Carson come up with a big series like that.”

Fort Dodge’s junior varsity boys prevailed, 2656-2171 behind Jacob Schroeder (417), Gavin Strain (398) and David Folsom (386). The girls came up short, 1634-1381. Bereket Burns (243) was FDSH’s top performer.

The Dodgers are at Des Moines East on Tuesday at 4:15 p.m.
